The Student Show Case is a great opportunity for ANYONE AT ANY LEVEL to
show their friends, family and other dancers what they've learned, but it's also an
opportunity to meet others,see what other dances are available to learn, have a
great time, and be part of something special, even if you don't want to participate
in the actual dancing.
So... below is a list of all the ways you may be able to participate... from dancing to video to
making announcements.... please let me know your preference early so you can lock in your spot.

OPPORTUNITIES where Help is Needed
• Camera - We have the video camera... I just need two people to share running it.
• Music - I will have the music set up and ready to go with back up CDs in case of emergency, I need
two people to share starting and stopping the music.
• Collecting Money/Tickets - During the beginning of the evening when I'm in crazy mode and greeting
people, I need someone to sit at the front desk and collect money and/or tickets.
• Food - We're going to serve hot and cold appetizers, but that still means I need help putting everything
out in time, and help with making some of the appetizers.
• Announcers - Last year I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to do everything.... It
would be nice to have someone be the MC for the evening... or share it with someone. We have videos
from last year of me running back and forth betwee the mic and the music and it wasn't pretty.

| OUR FIRST SHOW CASE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS... THE EXPERIENCE, COMRADERIE, PUSHING OURSELVES TO THE LIMITS, THEN BEING ABLE TO SHOW OFF ALL OUR HARD WORK WILL STAY WITH US FOR A LONG TIME.... TEAM / GROUP DANCES
We currently have two dance teams: Obsession Dance Troupe, who performs Ballroom, Latin, Swing
and Hustle Dances; and Ultra Goddess Belly Dancers who performs Belly Dance and Bollywood. It's
never too late to join Ultra Goddess even if you only learn one dance between now and the Show Case;
and we're always open to bringing new COUPLES into Obsession Dance Troupe.... click here for more

basics, take some classes in October through December, familiarize yourself with the dances and steps
before you make a decision

THRILLER no partner or experience needed - oh, we love Thriller. - We're going to use
the dance section of the Thriller video and copy the moves as closely as we can, lower the lights, don old
ripped clothes and make up our faces.... and we're going to give the audience a thrill... and a chill.... CLICK

Dancing through the Decades - if you do not have a partner for this, we'll assign you one. You only
need to be in a few of the dances so dance experience is minimal. We'll have a couple of people at a
time doing each dance so you don't have to know or learn all of them. Some of them may include Polka
as that goes back forever, Twist, Jitterbug, Bossa Nova, "rock and roll", ..... more info coming soon
Country Medley - You'll need a partner for this one and you are welcome to join us in just this medley if
that's all that interests you.... we'll cover 5 of the most popular Country dances, we'll dance them as a team,
but not in formation. So when the music starts you can freestyle dance to the song that's playing.... more

Dance with Your Own Partner - If you already know how to dance and don't need any help or
lessons you may dance in the showcase for a small fee. If you need help and/or a routine there are
teachers available to give you private lessons (discount if you perform). Click here for more info.
Dance with Someone Else - to make it more interesting, we encourage students to dance with each
other. This gives you a whole new perspective on leading and following and it pushes you to learn a new
dance or embellish one you already know. Again, if you don't need any help, there will be a small fee to be
in the showcase, or you may take privates with us here (discount if you perform). Click her for more info.
Dance with Your Teacher - If you do not have a partner and wish to be in the Show Case with your
teacher, you may use your private lessons to learn a routine that you will dance with your teacher in the
Show Case. I encourage everyone who takes private lessons to dance one with their own partner and

If you do not have a Partner and would like to be in the Showcase - We may be able to

entertaining for you..... but if you're tired of sitting and want to move around, even if you don't know how to
dance, we'll have some fun stuff for you to do... if you wish.

Food - we will have hot and cold appetizers and refreshments. You are welcome to B.Y.O.B.
Open Dancing - we will be playing lots of great music for you to dance to.
Dance Mixers / Mini Lesson - just to get everyone in the mood, meet new people, and get all to move
around, we will have a dance mixer.... you do NOT have to participate, you do NOT need a partner, you do
NOT have to know how to dance, we'll show you everything you need to know to get up and move around
for a few minutes.
Zumba - we will have a little Zumba dancing for those who are interested.
Line Dancing - something like Zumba but much milder, not energetic, just fun....and easy.
Door Prize - of course, we will give away something to some lucky person.
Desserts - Probably one of the biggest hits of the evening. Everyone is always welcome to bring a
dessert, but not necessary. We wait all night for this yes? Coffee, Tea, hot water and DESSERTS,
yummmmmmy!
