2nd Student Showcase – March 24 (snow date March 31)
What is a Showcase?
It’s a chance for students to show their friends, family, and other students, what they’ve learned.
- Couples/Partners will dance at various levels.
- Dance Teams will perform.
- Group Dance classes will perform.
- Sometimes we get the whole group of dancers together to put on a dance skit of some sort or to be part of an overall fun dance.
The night includes Open Dancing between performances, a dance mixer or two to get everyone up on the floor, and food, of course! And B.Y.O.B.
Why do a Showcase? You’ll learn one (or more) dances very well. You’ll be part of a wonderful event and make lasting memories and build new friendships. You’re working toward a goal.
Who are the Couples/Partners?
You and your partner, if you have one, or you and your teacher … or you and another student. We have a few people we could assign to you if you wish, but they are limited, so let us know asap.
Most people dance one dance with their partner and one with their teacher.
Group Dance Class
We’re going to start group classes after the Holidays to prepare you for a group dance. The classes will be on Saturdays from 3-4:30 p.m. January we’ll do a 4-count Hustle routine; and February we’ll do a Single Step Swing routine AND we’re adding Classes on Monday Nights from 8-9:30 p.m. January will be Salsa and February will be Cha Cha. MARK YOUR CALENDARS…. All classes include a 15 min. practice which you do not have to stay for. You may take both classes if you wish. The cost is $60 per 4-week class per student. If you need a partner for this ask me and I’ll try to find someone else in need of a partner.
How Do I Get Started?
For couples dances: For one dance…You will need to take at least 6 private lessons with your partner or teacher. The discounted price is $450 for 6 lessons and that includes free admission to the showcase. Each additional dance will be discounted.
If you use a studio-assigned partner, you will pay for the lessons also, but if you partner up with another student, you can split the cost. Additional lessons will be at $70 per lesson for both of you.
You may pay half before your first lesson, and the other half before your 4th lesson.
For Group Classes, you will need to the available dance classes during Jan. and/or February.
For Private Groups: if you have a group of at least 6 people and want to perform with them, we’ll put together a Private GROUP class for you. Be sure to start by January.
If you already know how to dance and already have a routine to use, and just want to be in the showcase, there will be a charge of $50 per couple per dance, plus admission.
If you are already on a performing dance team, there is no extra charge for lessons, and admission to the showcase will be discounted. You may also dance with any other member of the team as a couple for no extra charge, providing you use one of the routines or work together to create your own. You are welcome to take private lessons if you would like a new routine..
